The Cooperative “SCA San Marcos” was founded in 1927. It is located in the village of Canena, placed at the centre of the province of Jaén, in the region of Andalusia (South of Spain) and just in the middle of the most productive area of olive oil all over the world.

The Cooperative was created to meet the needs of small and medium-size farmers of Canena. From the very beginning, olive oil was produced with the traditional pressing system, undertaking different changes all throughout the decades, and significantly changing to two-phase extracting system just at the end of the last century, in 1990.

Afterwards, the company also undertook an important installation renewal process in 2003. At present, it is composed by more than 700 farmers, and it is completely devoted to the production and sale of olive oil.

Its members are proprietors of a surface of 2,607 Hectares and the Cooperative has an average production of 19,000,000 kg. olives and 4,000,000 kg. of olive oil every year.
